Executive Team
Eric Wietsma, President and CEO
Summary: Eric Wietsma is Pentegra’s President and CEO. Eric has been with the organization since 2022 and has been a driving force in Pentegra’s growth. Eric brings a wealth of leadership experience and passion for the business to this role. His creative talent and energy drive the organization’s strategic direction and continually serve to expand Pentegra’s fiduciary solutions.
Experience: Prior to joining Pentegra as Senior Vice President, Chief Operations Officer at Pentegra in 2022, Eric served as Head of Workplace Operations at MassMutual, Inc. where he led an 800-plus employee organization. Prior to that, he served as Workplace Solutions Head of Sales and Education and Senior Vice President of Investment Services and Product Management.
Education And Professional Credentials: Eric holds an M.S. in Applied Statistics from Purdue University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Calvin University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and holds FINRA Series 7, 24, & 63 licenses.
Paula Edmonds, Senior Vice President, Client Services
Summary: Paula oversees Pentegra’s Client Services, Operations and Trust areas, overseeing all of Pentegra’s Defined Contribution (DC) and Third Party Administrator (TPA) operations and managing the Pentegra client, advisor and partner experience. In this role, she directs strategy, process, operational support and advisor and client service and support across Pentegra’s national client base.
Experience: A solutions-focused retirement industry executive with extensive experience overseeing large scale operations and business programs, Edmonds joined Pentegra in 2023 with a strong track record of professional success. Most recently, she served as Vice President/Head of Operations at Empower where she oversaw and managed the Sponsor Services/Operations department. Prior to that she spent several years at MassMutual Financial Group where she held various positions including Assistant Vice President, Retirement Services, Director, Regulatory Disclosures and National Accounts Manager.
Education And Professional Credentials: Paula earned an M.B.A. from Western New England State College and a B.S. from American International College. She also holds the Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) Designation and a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA).
Kevin Finnegan, Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Summary: As Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Kevin oversees Pentegra’s legal and compliance teams. As General Counsel he draws upon his broad business knowledge, industry expertise and legal pedigree to serve as the organization’s senior legal and business advisor. With deep knowledge of the law and retirement plan and tax regulations, he brings decades of experience and professional success to the Pentegra team.
Experience: Kevin spent much of his career at MassMutual. Most notably, he served as Lead Counsel, Tax & ERISA and Head of Workplace and Institutional Solutions Law prior to the sale of MassMutual’s retirement business to Empower. Earlier in his career he served as Vice President and Counsel at Pentegra.
Education And Professional Credentials: Kevin holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, and a J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
Carlo Guerrera, Vice President, Sales and Key Accounts
Summary: As Vice President, Sales and Key Accounts, Carlo leads Pentegra’s sales team and business development efforts. A relationship-focused retirement industry professional with deep retirement plan expertise, Carlo brings an impressive track record of professional success and more than 20 years of expertise in building strategic relationships with retirement industry partners to Pentegra. As a sales leader, he is focused on building scalable independent fiduciary partnerships with the industry’s leading distribution and recordkeeping organizations, facilitating growing relationships with our existing enterprise partners and developing opportunities for new partnerships as Pentegra continues to expand our 3(16) fiduciary footprint across the industry.
Experience: Most recently, Carlo served as Head of Institutional Sales at Future Plan/Ascensus, where he led a team responsible for identifying, managing, and expanding relationships and strategic alliances with recordkeeping, asset management, payroll and retirement advisory firms. He spent the majority of his career at MassMutual, where he held numerous positions, most recently as Head of Workplace Strategic Relationships, overseeing MassMutual’s relationships across key distribution channels.
Education And Professional Credentials: Carlo holds an M.B.A and a B.S in Business Administration from the University of Hartford along with FINRA Series 6 & 26 licenses.
Matthew P. Mintzer, Executive Vice President
Summary: As Executive Vice President, Matt leads Pentegra’s 403(b) Sales team, Marketing and Strategic Development team. He joined the organization in 2019, bringing decades of experience and industry insights.
Experience: Matt has more than 30 years of experience in the retirement industry. Prior to his current role, Matt was a principal at Eyes Up Consulting, where he worked with firms to develop impactful product, sales, marketing, operations and distribution solutions designed to differentiate clients from the competition. His previous senior leadership roles include: Head, Advisor Retirement Business, JPMorgan Asset Management; Head, Advisor Retirement Business, AllianceBernstein (AB); Head, Retirement Marketing, Putnam Investments.
Education And Professional Credentials: Matt earned a B.A. in Finance from Pennsylvania State University and holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 24, & 63 licenses.
Charles S. Sorrentino, Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Summary: Charles is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Pentegra. Charles is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the organization. He partners with other functional leaders to drive the organization’s overall strategy, initiatives and goals by providing critical financial analysis and decision support.
Experience: Prior to joining Pentegra, Charles served as Worldwide Controller at The Fram Group. He held the same position at Honeywell Consumer Products Group. Prior to that, he held the position of Director, Financial Planning and Analysis at Sara Lee Corporation. He began his career as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young.
Education And Professional Credentials: Charles earned a B.A. in Business Administration and a M.B.A. in Public Accounting from Pace University in New York.
Peter Sprague, Senior Vice President Information Technology, Chief Technology Officer
Summary: Pete is Senior Vice President Information Technology and Chief Technology Officer at Pentegra. Pete oversees Pentegra’s Information Technology and Information Security groups and focuses on driving productive and supportive relationships between business partners, technology teams and our customers.
Experience: Prior to joining Pentegra, Pete spent more than fifteen years at Morgan Stanley, most recently as Executive Director, Field and Client Technology, where he led the Sales Technology and Global development teams, where he focused on creating technology solutions.
Education And Professional Credentials: Pete graduated from Marist College, where he received a B.A. in Business.
President, Pentegra Investors, Inc.
Scott M. Stone, Senior Vice President & Chief Investment Officer
President, Pentegra Investors, Inc.
Summary: Scott leads Pentegra’s investment management team, where he oversees the investment processes governing over billions in assets comprised of both public and private holdings of fixed income, equity, real estate and alternative investments.
Experience: Scott began his tenure with Pentegra in 2011. Prior to joining Pentegra, Scott was Vice President of investments at Kansas City Life Insurance Company. After 17 years there, he headed to Reinsurance Group of America, where he served as Vice President – Senior Portfolio Manager; Fixed Income Management; Investment Strategy & Research; and Non-Public and Alternative Investments. Scott was also an Adjunct Instructor at Sterling College, where he taught undergraduate level business courses.
Education And Professional Credentials: Scott earned a B.A. in Business, Finance, Marketing, and Quantitative Methods and an M.B.A. in Finance from the the University of Kansas. He also holds Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) professional designations.
Colleen Zanicchi, Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer
Summary: Colleen oversees Pentegra’s human resources policies and programs including recruitment, selection, retention, and compensation and benefit programs. She’s also responsible for managing all of our offices and facilities and making sure our employees are happy and comfortable.
Experience: Colleen has been with Pentegra for over 24 years. She began her career as a Benefits Administrator at General Foods. Following that, she joined Phibro Energy as Human Administrator before moving on in 1992 to become a Human Resources Assistant Consultant at Aon Corporation.
Education And Professional Credentials: Colleen earned a B.A. in Business Administration from the State University of New York. She also holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRIC) and the Society for Human Resources Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation from the Society for Human Resources Management.
